Syncopated vocals meld with knocking percussion atop a grungy, full-throated bassline in Teison’s remix of ‘The Place We Know’. He transforms the sullen, moody original into a driving dance track propelled forward by sequenced synthesizers and rich ambience that reach a fever pitch before clearing out to make space for Gus’ airy vocals. Warm synth tones and crisp drum programming clash with cold, somber vocals making for a listen with sincerity and depth, as well as the ability to pack a dancefloor.

On the remix process, Teison recalls:

“I was able to listen to the whole record and immediately the vocals on “The Place We Know” struck a chord for me and I spent the following months building a new sonic environment for the vocals to live in, using only bassline progression from the original, which complimented the vocals beautifully.”

“Most of it was made in my apartment in Copenhagen, overlooking the neighbouring rooftops during a cold, bleak winter. It was a weekend back in February and I remember the cold winter sun shining through the windows combined with massive amounts of incense forming the perfect environment to finish a piece of music I am so proud of.”

“I was record shopping in London a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across Nuage’s Pink Television EP on display at Phonica which was a nice little full circle moment.”
